Tom "Ed" Looper

Tom “Ed” Looper, 82, oF rural Bono, departed this world on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, from the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.

Born in Jonesboro, Tom lived most of his life in the Bono area. He was a retired Electrician for the General Electric Plant in Jonesboro where he worked for 37 years. Tom was a member of Bono Church of Christ and a U.S. Army veteran.

Tom enjoyed building stockcars and driving them for many years on the area racetracks. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed going to auctions and flea markets. Tom was preceded in death by his parents: Jack and Maudie Looper Puckett, grandmother Pearl Sheffield, and three sisters: Louise Verdict, Wilma Faye Puckett and Margaret Ann Puckett.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Eva Gowen Looper of the home, married December 26, 1956;

2 daughters and sons-in-law: Gwen and Mark Vaughn and Sandi and Tommy Trusty, all of Bono;

2 brothers and sister-in-law: Buddy Puckett of Bono, and Neil and Mary Gaye Puckett of Jonesboro;

1 sister and brother-in-law: Betty and Bob Reeves of Brookland;

5 grandchildren and their spouses: Logan Trusty of Bono, Brian Reeves and Micah (Jason) Arnold all of Jonesboro, Tyler Vaughn of Bono and Natalie (Evan) Dill of Fayetteville; and

2 great grandchildren: Addison Arnold and Emery Arnold, both of Jonesboro.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10:00 in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Gary Cremeens, David Gibson and Richard Akins officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Active pallbearers include grandsons Logan Trusty, Tyler Vaughn, Brian Reeves, Jason Arnold, and sons-in-law Mark Vaughn and Tommy Trusty.

Honorary pallbearers include Dr. James Robinette and Dr. Susan Myshka.

Visitation will be Thursday evening, 5-8, at Emerson Memorial Chapel.
