Thyda "Liz" Elizabeth Smith

Thyda Elizabeth “Liz” Smith, 87, of Jonesboro passed from this life on Monday, October 05, 2015 at St. Bernard Medical Center. She was born in Cushman, Arkansas on April 25, 1928 to Emmett and Estelle Weaver. Liz is preceded in death by her parents, Emmett and Estelle Weaver; husband, Uel Smith.

Liz loved to socialize and volunteered many years for the St. Bernards Auxiliary. She was a member of the sorority Beta Sigma Phi and a member of Central Baptist Church. Liz enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting, decorating and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She had cook books everywhere and loved to cook pies, cakes and cookies.

Liz is survived by her sons, David Smith (Rachel) of Spring Hill, Tennessee and Donnie Smith (Mona) of Harrison, Arkansas; grandchildren, Cindy Shepard (Matt) of Washington, Lindsey Snyder of Dallas, Megan Crutchfield (Michael) of Paragould, Robert Smith (Talon) of Peel, Arkansas and Stephen Smith of Jonesboro. Liz also leaves behind 5 great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Bro. Mike Martin officiating. The active pallbearers will be Steve Pugh, Brad Wisdom, Robert Smith, Michael Crutchfield, Jay Boeckmann, and Wade Boeckmann.

The visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the service at Emerson Funeral Home.
