Thomas “Tommy” Lee Hancock, 78, a lifetime resident of Bay, died Tuesday, August 18, 2026. He was born on July 16, 1948, to Allen and Willadean Layman Hancock. He was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church in Bay. When asked what his favorite hobby was, the unanimous answer from the family was, it was Phyllis. Tommy loved being a father, grandfather and great grandfather. He had many names, grandpa, pepaw, and papaw, and he loved them all. He was the former owner of Creative Multigrahics. Some of his hobbies include watching NCIS. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Phyllis Hancock, of the home; sons, Michael Hancock of Newport Beach, California; David Hancock and wife Leslie of Little Rock; daughter, Shannon Beeson and husband, Kurt of Jonesboro; sister, Darlene Wood and husband Dale of Bay; five grandchildren, Keith Kyle, Preston, Blair, and Rhett; two great grandchildren Kohl and Alivia.
A celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, August 21, 2026, at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Danny Taylor officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will follow at Pine Log Cemetery with Ray Herring, Ryan Manley, Tony Manley, Scott Manley, Rodney Manley, Dax Gibson and Zander Gibson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of First Baptist Church of Bay. Visitation will be from 9:00 until service time.
