Thomas Eugene "Gene" Stalcup, Sr., 71, of Jonesboro, passed from this life on Friday, March 20, 2020, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Gene was born in Jonesboro and lived most of his life in the Jonesboro area. He graduated from Brookland High School in 1965 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from Arkansas State University. He was a Professional Engineer licensed to practice in 34 states, and his extensive portfolio includes mechanical, electrical, and civil design projects. During his career he was active in the Arkansas Chapter of the National Society of Professional Engineers, where he received the Engineer of the Year award in 1989 and served as President in 1990. The last 14 years before his retirement he was the Director of Engineering for PB2 Architecture and Engineering in Rogers.
Gene was of the Nazarene faith and was preceded in death by his parents: Thomas H. and Lois L. Stalcup.
Survivors include his wife, Becky Stalcup of the home;
1 daughter, Stacey Freeze of Cherokee Village;
1 son and daughter-in-law: Thomas Eugene, Jr. and Lori Stalcup of Waimea, Hawaii; and
3 grandchildren: Michale Riggs, Matthew Riggs, and Jazmine Murphy.
Graveside funeral services were held at Macedonia Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Because of the Coronavirus precautions, visitation and burial was private. A memorial service for Gene may be planned for the future.
