Thomas J. “TJ” McAdory, 98, of Bartlett, Tennessee died Saturday, July 15, 2017 at his residence in Bartlett. He had lived there for four years, moving there from Jonesboro. He was of the Nazarene belief. He retired after 20 years from the US Navy. While serving in WWII he was a Pearl Harbor survivor aboard the DD390 Ralph Talbot. After cutting the mooring lines and headed out to sea, they were able to shoot down three enemy planes on their captainless boat. He helped commission three ships and served in the S. Pacific during the war, including Guadalcanal. After the war, he worked in civil service and raised Limousin cattle. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Audrey A. McAdory; son, John Holman McAdory; grandson, Kevin Jumper; and all of his siblings.
Survivors include his son, Reverend Thomas E. McAdory (Ronda) of Cordova, Tennessee; daughter, Audrey Fay Jumper (Marvin) of Jonesboro; grandchildren, John Martin, Deanna McAdory, Reverend Michael McAdory, Darin Jumper, Shawn McAdory and Nicholas McAdory; great grandchildren, Samantha, Chandler, Mia, Chad, Sydney and Drake.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Lorado Baptist Church with Reverend Thomas McAdory and Reverend Michael McAdory officiating and Emerson in charge of arrangements. Burial will follow at Lorado Cemetery and the US Navy will serve as pallbearers and military honors will be presented at the gravesite. Visitation will be from 10:30 Wednesday morning until service time.
