Thomas Joseph Sykes, 49, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, died Saturday at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.
Born in Agana, Guam, Mr. Sykes lived many years in Sacramento, California, before moving to Jonesboro in 2000. He was a Chef for Brick House Grill in Jonesboro and was a member of the Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, William R. Sykes, Sr. He was a great husband, and a loving and devoted father, son and brother.

His Wife of 17 years: Mercedes Sykes of Jonesboro;
3 Daughters: Cristina Sykes,
Jessica Sykes, and
Alina Sykes, all of Jonesboro;
1 Son: Daniel Joseph Ray Sykes of Jonesboro;
His Mother: Violet Gabriel Sykes of Sacramento, California;
4 Sisters: Elizabeth Sykes,
Melanie Sykes,
Kathleen Barnes, and
Charlene Johnson, all of Sacramento;
2 Brothers: William R. Sykes, Jr. of Sacramento, and
Richard Sykes of Spring Hill, Tennessee; and
1 Grandchild.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday afternoon at 5:30 at Blessed Sacrament Church in Jonesboro with Rev. Father Mark Wood officiating. Burial will be private.
Visitation will follow the memorial service at the church.
