Thomas Bonner “Buddy” Lincoln, 77, of Jonesboro passed from this life after a long illness on Sunday, June 28, surrounded by his family at St. Bernards Medical Center. He was born to Thomas Sr, & Dora Rice Lincoln and was raised by Doc & Gladys Applegate.
He was a Christian and a member of the Valley View Church of Christ. He was retired from the Navy as Chief Petty Officer in 1973. After working on a tugboat on the Mississippi River for five years, he began cross country truck driving and retired a second time after 15 years.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and bird watching and was an avid reader. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. Throughout his long illness, he always had a great attitude, a funny story or a word of encouragement for everyone. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Lequeta, of the home; his son and daughter-in-law, Rick & Carol White of Jonesboro; his daughter, Melinda Nichols of Dallas; four granddaughters, Brandi Widick, Rebecca Cossey of Jonesboro, Candi Dobbs of Batesville, and Lauren George of Dallas; three grandsons, Shane Nichols, Nick Briney, and Brian Nichols; and four great grandchildren, Ava & Evan Cossey, and Josie and Carrie Widick. Also surviving him is his sister, Sara Alice Lincoln of Seaside, California.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Emerson Memorial Chapel with David Gibson officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Active pallbearers will be Shane Nichols, John Lieblong, Charles Whitaker, Randy Simpkins, Willie Simpson, Michael Meredith, Terry Smith, Kyle Widick, and Nick Briney.
Honorary pallbearers will be Max Merrill, G.W. Allison, and George Penter.
Visitation will be Wednesday at the funeral home from 9:30 until service time.
