Thelma Gibson Canada

Thelma Gibson Canada, 92, of Jonesboro, passed away Monday at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.

Born in Otwell, Thelma lived much of her life in the Jonesboro area. She was a homemaker and worked several years at Frolic Footwear. She was a member of Prospect Baptist Church and enjoyed crocheting, quilting, gardening, cooking and spending time with her family.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, Trigg and Helen Wilkins Keller, her first husband, J.W. Gibson in 1976, her second husband, J.R. “Bud” Canada in 2009, 3 sons: Jerry Gibson, Bobby Gibson and Johnny Gibson, 2 sisters: Marjorie Williams and June McGaughey, and 2 brothers: Donald Williams and Troy Keller.

Survivors include 2 daughters-in-law: Carolyn Gibson and Wanda Gibson, both of Jonesboro;

3 step sons: Jim Canada, John Canada and Ron Canada;

1 brother, Jack Keller (Hazel) of Jonesboro;
2 sisters: Alice Quick and Carol (Charles) Menne, all of Hernando, Mississppi;

9 grandchildren, 9 step grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 11:00 in McDaniel Cemetery with grandson Scott Gibson officiating.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held Wednesday evening, 6:00-8:00 at Emerson Funeral Home.
