Terry Melvin Hargett

September 24, 1920 — July 9, 2011

Terry M. Hargett, 90, of Jonesboro, died Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Skill Care Nursing Center. Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, he had moved to Jonesboro shortly after he was born. He was a retired engineer from CW&L who loved to fish and hunt deer. He was a very faithful member of North Main Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. There were times when he would walk to church when the roads were too slick to drive on. He loved the Lord and was a soul winner. He was a “people” person who enjoyed the fellowship with others.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Ellen Mae Hargett of Jonesboro; sons, Bert (Willadean) Hargett, of Jonesboro, Terry Ronald (Rita) Hargett of Wisconsin; grandchildren, Marvin (Melinda)Hargett, Danny (Tammy) Hargett, Toni (Chris) Moskop; 7 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and sisters, Myra Schisler and Anita Atherton, both of Jonesboro.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bert Minyard & Opal Bullard Hargett; and 2 brothers, Fred Hargett, Sr. and Bert “June” Hargett.

Funeral services will be Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at North Main Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Active pallbearers will be Marvin Hargett, Danny Hargett, Chris Moskop, Blake Moskop, Terrell Sandlin, and Matthew Hargett. Honorary pallbearers are Bradley Hargett, Austin Hargett, and the Deacons of North Main Baptist Church.

Visitation will be Friday 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at North Main Baptist Church.
