Terri Herndon Reno, 75, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, passed away peacefully in the arms of her son on May 4, 2025. Born in 1950 in Iowa City, Iowa, to George and Mae Herndon, Terri lived a life full of adventure and purpose.
Her early years were spent exploring Europe and India, embracing cultures and experiences that shaped her compassionate and giving nature. In her thirties, she served as a missionary in England and Jamaica, dedicating herself to helping others through faith and service.
Terri’s second chapter of life was devoted to raising her beloved son, Andrew, and serving the Jonesboro community. A passionate educator, she spent three decades as an English Professor at Arkansas State University Newport, where she inspired countless students. She also led numerous Bible study groups at Trinity Church and Awaken Church, sharing her wisdom and steadfastness with many.
She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Mae Herndon. She is survived by her brother, Jeff Herndon; her uncle, Lanny Roberts, her son, Andrew Reno; and her nieces, Nicole Thibodeaux and Courtney Fletcher.
A visitation will be held at 9:00 AM on Saturday, May 10, followed by a service at 10:00 AM at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro. A celebration of life will take place at 1:30 PM at Awaken Church.
