Sylvia C. Ward, 79, of rural Jonesboro, passed from this life on Sunday, November 15, 2020, at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro.
Born in Tampa, Florida, to first generation immigrants, Sylvia grew up there, met her husband, Ross, there then moved to Jonesboro in 1970. She was a homemaker and member of Northside Church of Christ where she formerly taught Bible Class for several years. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and quilting and working with crafts such as painting and ceramics. Through the years she also enjoyed camping with her family. Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Carmelina Andina Perez.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Ross U. Ward, Sr., married December 31, m1965;
1 daughter and her husband, Valerie and Darran Alexander of Killen, Alabama;
2 sons and their wives, Ross, Jr. and Debbie of Huxley, Iowa, and Michael T. and Melissa Ward of Jonesboro;
9 grandchildren and their spouses: Jennifer and Kevin Anderson, Rachel Ward, Ruth and Dillion Milgrim, Brandon and Savannah Ward, Hailee and Eli Myatt, Olivia Ward, Abigail Alexander, Autumn Alexander and Lily Grace Alexander; and
3 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Mike Webb and Nolan Glover officiating. Private burial will follow in Herndon Cemetery. Visitation will precede the funeral service from 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. in Emerson Chapel.
