On Tuesday, October 30, 2018, Sylvia Louise Jordan, loving wife and mother took a direct flight into our Lords care because Mike said, "don't take the bus."
Born April 20, 1927, in Fayetteville, NC, to Frank and Francis (Hill) Gillette, she lived in NC, then New York, Then Michigan.
Sylvia attended a 2-year college for her Secretarial Certificate in Detroit, MI.
She began her career at Michigan Bell.
Sylvia married in 1947 after cutting many rugs dancing with Jim, and began growing her family in 1950 giving birth to Michael, 1955 to Timothy, 1958 to Mary, and 1960 to Sue.
While raising her kids, she taught CCD at St. Domitilla’s, worked and volunteered at school, was a member and officer of St. Domitilla’s Women’s Guild. Post kids, she rounded out her career book keeping and managing staff at Elmhurst Lincoln Mercury. In her leisure, Sylvia had played Bridge for many years, enjoyed traveling with Jim, reading about US History and other cultures, and mystery novels.
She was an avid crossword puzzler,
and always ready for 9 holes of golf or a waltz or jitterbug. Sylvia is preceded in death by her loving parents, her first born, Michael (Sharon), and grandson, Robert.
Sylvia is survived by her husband of 71 years, James, son, Tim (Lesa), daughters Mary (Tim), and Susie (John). Grandchildren, Derek, Allison, Elayna, Jacob, Della, Anna, Matthew and Lisa with 9 great grandchildren and counting.
