Sybil Lucille Jensma

June 28, 1934 — February 17, 2008

Sybil L. Jensma, 74, of Bay, AR, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 17 in Jonesboro, AR. Born June 28, 1933 in Eros, LA, Sybil was the baby of the family and spoiled by all. Graduate of Ouachita Parrish High School in 1956, her keen mind and devotion to learning continued throughout her life. She enjoyed reading, loved writing poetry, and actively followed the current events of the day, especially her beloved Republican party. Her joys in life were simple ones: family, Redskins, Cubs, a hand of cards, Tunica, Horseshoe Lake, crossword puzzles, and a plate of spaghetti. She will be remembered as a woman of great strength, tender heart, sassy opinion, and quick wit.

Sybil was preceded in death by parents Robert and Alice Griggs; sisters Erdell Gates and Ruby Williams; brother J.W. Griggs;and granddaughter Leah Miller.

Sybil is survived by daughter Janelle Smith and husband, David, of Baton Rouge, LA; son Michael Miller and wife, Carolyn, of Taiwan; daughter Susan Hailey and husband, David, of Raleigh, NC; daughter Shelly Robertson and husband, John, of Bay, AR; and her "dirty dozen" grandchildren Michael Robert, Chris, Jenny, Rachel, Sarah, Rebecca, Stephen, Bethany, David John, Susanna, and James.

A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 22 at the Horseshoe Lake Baptist Church in Mer Rouge, LA, with the Reverend Dr. David J. Hailey, Sr. officiating
