Susie Bowling, 60, of rural Jonesboro, died Monday, February 21, 2011, at St. Bernards Medical Center.
Susie moved to Jonesboro in 1968 and was a 1969 graduate of Jonesboro High School. She earned Bachelor and Master degrees from Arkansas State University and was a teacher for 27 years at Nettleton High School before becoming disabled and retiring in 2000.
Susie was a Baptist and a long-time volunteer with Area 7 of Special Olympics where she was a past Director. She was a member of the Jonesboro Civitan Club and enjoyed photography and music. Susie was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Alvaro Chambers, by a brother, Lee Chambers and a sister, Sandy Chambers.
Susie’s family includes her husband of 40 years, Ralph Bowling of the home,
One daughter and son-in-law, Misty and Bradley Adamson of Jonesboro;
One sister, Rebecca Stark of Fort Smith;
One granddaughter, Ava Joe Adamson of Jonesboro; and a soon-to-be-born grandson, Elijah Lee Adamson.
A memorial service will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Archie Mason officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will follow the memorial service.
