Susan J. Rose, 84, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2026, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. She was born on January 16, 1942, to Jodie and Jolene Mills in Kennett, Missouri.

Susan was a devoted member of Nettleton Baptist Church and was very active in the children’s Good News Ministry. She loved serving others and could often be found volunteering with the Clothes Closet or helping organize the Angel Tree, bringing the joy of Christmas to the children of the Good News Ministry

Outside of her church and ministry work, Susan enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She loved camping, fishing, and tending to her flowers. She was an avid reader and had a special love for the ocean and the beach. Above all, Susan treasured her family and especially cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Jodie and Jolene Mills; and her beloved husband of 58 years, Ronnie L. Rose.

She is survived by her daughters, Paula (Jeff) Cooper of Jonesboro and Gala Rose of Castle Pines, Colorado; grandchildren, Jarrett (Jessica) Cooper, Ashlee (Taylor) Goodwin, Caraline (Michael) Dunlevy, and Matthew Vaughn, all of Jonesboro; great-grandchildren, Hadlee, Jace, Judson, Baker, and with one more great-grandchild on the way, Charlee; brother-in-law, Mike Rose of Jonesboro; and her cousin, Lynne Winstead of Brandon, Mississippi; Susan also leaves behind her beloved best friend, Rosie. Rosie brought Susan immeasurable companionship, comfort, and unconditional love. She faithfully loved her mom and was a cherished source of joy and comfort.

Susan will be lovingly remembered for her kind heart, her servant's spirit, her love for her family, and the many lives she touched throughout her years.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m., with Bro. Bryce Holmes and Bro. Stan Ballard officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Susan’s Honor.
