SungAi Simpson of Jonesboro died Saturday, February 05, 2011. She had lived in Jonesboro since 1970, moving here from Little Rock, and was a member of the Nettleton Church of Christ. She was a member of the Wednesday Ladies Teddy Bear Group at Nettleton Church of Christ making teddy bears for children in the hospital. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. SungAi enjoyed participating in church and social activities. Her Thursday night ladies group provided a special joy each week. SungAi was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Willie Simpson, of the home; daughters, Kim Shelton and husband Rob of Jonesboro; Amy Wheeler of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; brothers Sang Hoon Kim and Sung Jae Kim, both of Incheon, Korea; granddaughters, Madison Shelton and Lila Tubb.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Jimmy Young and Jimmy Ferguson officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge. Burial will be at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Coy London, Rob Shelton, Joe Brewer, John Henry, Barry Charlton and Jerry Dotson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Elders and Deacons of the Nettleton Church of Christ. Visitation will be from 5-7 Tuesday night at Emerson.
