Sue Pitman

Sue Pitman, 69, of Brookland, passed away Friday, June 21, 2013, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.

Born in Monahans, Texas, Sue lived in Scott, Arkansas, before moving to Jonesboro in 1970. She was a graduate of Arkansas State University School of Nursing and was a Registered Nurse for 31 years at NEA Baptist Hospital. Sue was a member of Brookland United Methodist Church.

Through the years, Sue was a 4-H Club Leader, Cub Scout Leader, and was a member of the Arkansas Cattlemens Association where she served as Area Vice President for 12 years. She was an avid hunter and fisherman, a University of Arkansas Advanced Master Gardner, a member of the NEA Day Lilly Society, and a Hope Circle Volunteer.

Sue was preceded in death by two sons: David Bryan Elmore and David Alan Pitman, 2 sisters: Charlotte Ann Russell and Benita Jo Mills, and by 2 brothers-in-law, Jerry Morris and Jerry White.

Survivors include her husband, Larry Pitman of the home;

5 sons, Tony Elmore (Cindy) of Jonesboro, Justin Joel Pitman (Heather) of Paron, Arkansas, Carter Pitman of St. Louis, Paul Pitman (Maria) of Philmont, New York, and John Robert Pitman (Cathy) of Kansas City;

2 sisters: LaWanda White of Davis, Oklahoma, and Becky Fields of Ponca City, Oklahoma;

2 brothers: Lonnie Burnett and Bradley Burnett, both of Ponca City;

2 sisters-in-law: Marilyn Morris of Cotter and Doyalene Stracener of England, Arkansas;
1 brother-in-law, Marvin Russell;

11 grandchildren,
1 great grandchild, and several nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be Monday morning at 10:00 in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Edward Pruett and Bill Sartin officiating. Burial will be private.

Pallbearers include Jerry Crocker, Rush Nash, Keith Blackman, Steve Boles, Curtis Dooms, and David Head. Honorary pallbearers include Bill Humphreys, Josh Pitman, Alexander Pitman and Zane Pitman.

Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 5:00-7:00 at Emerson Funeral Home.
