Sue Hightower

January 10, 1947 — August 8, 2022

Donna Sue Hightower, 75, died peacefully at her home Monday, August 8, 2022.  She was born in Batesville, Arkansas, on Jan 10, 1947. “Sue”, as she preferred to be called, attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.  She graduated from the University of Arkansas – Little Rock in 1972, with honors.  She taught elementary school in Little Rock while her husband was in medical school and residency.  In June 1980, she moved with her husband and two young daughters to Jonesboro.  She made Jonesboro her home for the next 42 years.

She enjoyed reading, music, playing the piano, gardening and decorating her old house.  She especially enjoyed traveling with her husband to medical meetings around the country and numerous family trips to Florida.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Dr. Michael Hightower, of the home; daughter, Susan Hightower of Jonesboro; daughter, Sarah Hurst of Louisville, Kentucky and brother Thomas Bryant of Batesville. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donnie and Burnell Bryant and   sister, Karen Bryant Dickson.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, August 11, 2022, at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.  All other services were private.  For lasting memorials, please consider memorials made to Sue’s favorite charity, St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee, 38105.
