Sue Burns, 91, of Jonesboro formerly of Cardwell passed away Saturday, November 5, 2022 at St. Bernards Medical Center. She was born March 27, 1931 in Greenway to the late Vi and Nora Joiner. Sue was a member of Antioch Church of Christ. She worked for the family business Burns Variety 5¢ & 10¢. Before leaving Cardwell she was the City Clerk. Sue enjoyed cooking, pottery, crocheting, knitting, sewing, reading books and playing cards and dominoes. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband of 72 years, Ken Burns of the home; 2 sons, Jim (Kelley) Burns of Bonita Springs, Florida, John (Lisa) Burns of Rockwood, Michigan; daughter, Angie Smith of Jonesboro; 1 sister, Peggy Spencer of Paducah, Kentucky; 3 grandchildren, Alecia (Steve) Faber of Southgate, Michigan, Kristy (Dave) Exner of Southgate, Michigan, Taylor Higginbotham of Pensacola, Florida and 4 great grandchildren: Lexi (Johnathen) Stench of Southgate, Michigan, Dylan Faber of Southgate, Michigan, Leah Exner of Southgate, Michigan and Logan Exner of Southgate, Michigan.
Graveside service will be Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. in Cardwell Cemetery in Cardwell, Missouri with Kelly Wright officiating.
Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Emerson Funeral Home prior to the graveside service.
