Steven Jude Dinet, III, 15, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, drowned Sunday, August 7, 2011, in Spring River at Hardy, Arkansas.
Born in New Orleans, Steven and his family relocated to Jonesboro following Hurricane Katrina in August 2005. He was a Sophomore at Nettleton High School where he played defensive tackle on the senior football team. He was a member of Nettleton Baptist Church and active in the youth ministry.
Steven spent time volunteering with CityYouth Ministries, the Salvation Army and other services in Jonesboro. He was the biggest New Orleans Saints and UFC fan in Jonesboro. Steven loved the Lord, his Church and was a wonderful son and awesome big brother. He was preceded in death by his great grandfathers Albert Dabney, Sr. and Lawrence Sylve, Sr.
Survivors include his parents, Steven, Jr. and Keywania Gamel Dabney Dinet of the home; 2 brothers, Justin and Jason Dinet, and a sister, Ashley Morris. Also surviving include grandparents Claudette Dabney Ringgold, Charles Allen, and Steven, Sr. and Mary Dinet; great grandparents, Emelda Dabney and Theresa Sylve.
Funeral services will be Friday morning at 10:00 at Nettleton Baptist Church with Stan Ballard and Brandon Wallace officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Log Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Active pallbearers include Martin Munoz, Danny Dinet, Sr., Lawrence Sylve, Jr., Jacob Sutton, Christopher Dinet, Sloan Stephenson, Danny Dinet, Jr. and Shawn Dabney. Honorary pallbearers include Justin Dinet and Jason Dinet.
Visitation will be held Thursday evening, 5-8, at Nettleton Baptist Church.
