Steven Wayne Brown

Steven Wayne Brown, 71, of Jonesboro, passed away July 8, 2023 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.

Steve was born May 26, 1952 to the late Richard (Bean) Brown and Euvanell Cullum Brown in Rector, AR. He is survived by his wife Brenda Poppe Brown; children Barrett Brown of Claremore, OK, Breena Brown of Jonesboro, Brandon Brown and wife Kristin Addison-Brown of Brookland; one grandson, Isaac Brown of Brookland; one sister, Myra Parks of Rector; one brother, Joe Brown and wife Carrie of MS; two step sisters, Mary Williams and husband Eddie and Fay Coleman.

Steve’s most valued single accomplishment in his life was when he was baptized into Christ. Besides attending the Nettleton Church of Christ congregation, he also attended 5th and Pine Church of Christ in Rector and Mangrum Church of Christ in Black Oak. He was active in all the congregations.

He worked in several professions; factory worker, foreign car mechanic and shop owner, and railroad maintenance of way crew member and track apprentice. He retired from the profession he loved best, teaching math to children at Riverside East Elementary. Steve’s hobby was finding more work to do. He occasionally liked to hunt, ride 4-wheelers, and take trips.  He loved spending time with family.

In lieu of flowers, Steve requested that donations be made to the Paragould Childrens Homes or the Gospel Broadcasting Network.

A visitation will be held July 11, 2023, from 5pm to 6pm at Nettleton Church of Christ. A memorial service will follow the visitation at 6pm. Burial will be private.
