Stephen Edwin Gentry, Jr., of Jonesboro, passed away on September 18, 2023 at the age of 47. He was born on July 17, 1976 to Stephen Gentry and Carol Wrinkles Gentry.
A lifelong resident of Jonesboro, Stephen built his 30+ year career working at the old Methodist hospital as a candy striper and then a pharmacy tech. He was eventually promoted to the Baptist Memorial corporate office in Memphis where he worked as an IT Manager. Stephen loved his work and was a natural caregiver. He was compassionate towards others as well as animals. A cat lover, Stephen adored his pets.
Stephen graduated from Nettleton High School in 1993 and attended Arkansas State University. He loved travelling and visiting Yellowstone and Yosemite National Parks, Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina, and New York City, to name a few. Stephen was a self-proclaimed handyman and loved working on different fixer upper and home renovation projects.
He is preceded in death by his father, Stephen Gentry; paternal grandfather, Omar “Sonny” Gentry; maternal grandparents, Albert and Virginia Wrinkles; great-grandmother, Stella Dunn; and great-aunts Pat Comerford and Rita Tucker.
Stephen is survived by his brother, Brandon Todd (Tina) Gentry of Paragould; aunts, Susie (James) Hannah of Leeds, Alabama, Pam (Donnie) Craig of Brighton, Tennessee, and Rhonda (Kurt) Zen-Ruffinen of Winslow; grandmother, Joyce Gentry of Jonesboro; special friend, Brian March; numerous other family members; and his beloved cat, Salem.
