Stan Boyd

Stan Boyd, 63, of Jonesboro, died Friday, May 19, 2006, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident on Highway 49.

Stan grew up in the Grubbs community and moved with his family to Michigan in 1957. He graduated from Bendle High School of Burton, Michigan in 1960. Stan joined the Army in 1962, serving 20 years before retiring in 1982 as the Administrator of the U.S Army health clinic. He was a registered x-ray technician and a registered laboratory technician. After retiring from the Army he was employed by the American Consulate in Munich, Germany for the next 10 years. He received several awards during his years of service with the Army and the Consulate.

Stan met and married his wife Heidi, a native of Munich, which was their home for the next 20 years. In 1995 they returned to the United States and have since made their home in Jonesboro.

Stan had many interests. He loved old cars, especially his 1967 Pontiac GTO. He was also a 32nd degree Mason. Stan’s favorite pastime was his farm and horses. Stan was devoted to his family. He was a friend to all who knew him. He was a kind, compassionate, generous, and had a wonderful sense of humor. After many years of absence from the United States, Stan remained a deeply patriotic person who truly believed in God, country, and family. Stan was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

Stan is survived by his wife Heidi, son and daughter-in-law Wade and Melanie Boyd of Ward, AR – Son -Dennis Boyd of Jonesboro, Ar – son and daughter-in-law Anthony and Sara Boyd of Fredericksburg, VA – Son – John Boyd of Los Angeles, CA – daughter – Heidi Boyd of Jonesboro, AR – grandchildren – Roxanne, Tyler, Lindsey, Haylie, Baylee, and Daniel. Stan is also survived by brother wife Buck and Sarah Springer of Beebe, AR – four sisters – Willie Hall of Flushing, MI, Mary Ann McCoy and husband Frank of Grubbs, AR, Jimmie Wells and husband Arnold of Davison, MI and Beth Williams of Jonesboro, AR. Brother-in-law Christian Fahrngruber of Munich Germany, special niece Bethann Dunnam and nephew Clay Buchanan, and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents Otis and Elsie Boyd, brothers Gene Boyd and Jessie Springer, sisters Odie Kessel, Madge Moore, nephews Burt McCoy and Chris Wells.

Visitation will be held from 6-7pm on Tuesday evening with a memorial service beginning at 7pm at Emerson’s Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, May 24 at 1 pm at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Rev. Mark Wood officiating. Burial service to follow at Ballews Chapel Cemetary at Grubbs, AR. Pall bearers will be Wade Boyd, Anthony Boyd, Dennis Boyd, John Boyd, Heidi Boyd, Clay Buchanan, and Bethann Dunnam.
