Spencer Curtis Carter Sr., 66, of Jonesboro died Friday, January 31, 2014 at his home. He had moved to Arkansas in 1984, moving here from Waycross, Georgia. He was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his one son, Curtis Allan Carter; his parents, and six brothers. Spencer was a loveable guy who loved to fish, watching his grandson’s ballgames, and camping. He also worked at Walmart #45, in Jonesboro.
Survivors include his wife, Vickie Carter of the home; son, Spencer Curtis Carter Jr. (Rose) ; daughter, Stephanie Gilliam (Zach) all of Jonesboro; brothers, Tommy Carter (Sandy) of South Carolina; Ed Carter of Victoria, Texas; sister, Ivanlyn Hill of Live Oak, Florida; grandchildren, Westen, Shelby, Rudy, and Keegan Gilliam and Baylee and Shyann Carter; sister in law, JoAnn Carter; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 1:00 PM, Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Brother Robbie McMasters and Zach Gilliam officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will be at Pine Log Cemetery with Jesse Willey, Dan Willey, Dan Bettis, Donny Knuckles, Westen Gilliam, and Rudy Gilliam serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Keegan Gilliam, Grant Myers, Jim Wyatt, Tommy Carter and Ed Carter. Visitation will be from 5-8 Monday evening at Emerson Memorial Chapel.
