Sister Conrad Frankenberger, age 90, died at 7:55 a.m. on January 19, 2008 in Holy Angels Infirmary.
She was born on October 20, 1917, in Bixby, Oklahoma to Albert and Emma (Schaetchel) Frankenberger. She was the second of three children. Her only surviving sibling is Sister Louise Frankenberger of Holy Angels Convent. She is survived by a sister-in-law and by many nieces and nephews.
She attended elementary school in Pocahontas, AR and High School at Holy Angels Academy in Jonesboro, AR. She later attended Arkansas State University and then
Mt. St. Scholastica College in Atchison, KS and graduated in Religious Studies.
She entered Holy Angels Convent in 1934, made her Profession of First Vows in 1936 and Final Vows in 1940.
Sister Conrad spent many years in culinary service at St. Bernards Hospital, Jonesboro, AR; St. John’s Seminary, Little Rock, AR; St. John’s Place in Hot Springs, and Holy Angels Convent. She taught 3-4th grades and then was put in charge of the sewing room at Holy Angels for eleven years. After getting her Religious Studies Degree, she taught CCD classes in many places: Newport, Bateville, Engleberg, Weiner, Forrest City, Helena, and Jonesboro, AR. She later became PRE Coordinator in Jonesboro and Pocahontas. The last nine years were spent in Pastoral Care at St. Bernards Hospital and the eight years in Retirement.
Visitation and Rosary will be held at Holy Angels Convent on Monday, January 21, at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, January 22, at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Angels Convent Chapel with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Pallbearers will be the Knights of Columbus of Blessed Sacrament Parish under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home.
