Sister Mary Brenda Willett, O.S.B.

Sister Brenda Willett, O.S.B., age 82, died September 1, 2007 at 5:36 a.m. in St. Bernards Medical Center, Jonesboro, Arkansas.

She was born in Paducah, KY on December 25, 1924 to Clark and Ida Willett. She was the youngest of eleven children. All are deceased except one brother, Ambrose. She is also currently survived by many nieces and nephews.

Sister Brenda entered Holy Angels Convent in 1957 and made her Profession of Vows in 1958 and her Silver Jubilee in 1983.

Her early education and High School were in Kentucky. After coming to Arkansas, she attended Arkansas State University receiving her BS in Education. She then attended the University of Arkansas and received her Masters in Education. She also took Library Courses there and later became Convent Librarian.

She taught in schools in Arkansas and Texas for at least thirty years before becoming the Convent Librarian and librarian to Blessed Sacrament School. During this time, she also became a Blessed Sacrament visitator to the sick in the parish until she was no longer able to fulfill this duty.

Due to the fact that the Superiors are out of the country at this time, her funeral will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. with Rosary, September 14 at 7:00 p.m. in Holy Angels Chapel. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery on the grounds of Holy Angels Convent under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home. Knights of Columbus of Blessed Sacrament Church will be the pallbearers.
