SISTER JOANNE SANDOVAl, O.S.B.
Sister Joanne Sandoval, age 91, died at 3:00 a.m. on January 19, 2016
in Holy Angels Infirmary. She was born on January 25,1924, in
Salamanca, Sto., Mexico. Her parents were Sebastian Adame Sandoval
and Jesus Laguna Sandoval. They moved to Texas while Sr. Joanne
was still young and both died at her early age. She was reared by her
grandmother in Aubrey, TX where she attended grade and high
school. She married Willie Sandoval in 1946 and cared for him until death
in 1976, she had three sons: Willie Jr, George and John Sandoval.
She attended Durham Business College, Texas Christian University,
and Tarrant County Junior Collage studying Business courses in
Secretarial training. Sometime after her husband's death, she decided to enter religious life. She entered Holy Angels Convent in 1977. After her First Profession, she was assigned to the Business Office where she did secretarial work for 35+ years until recently due to ill health. (She was the first widow to
enter Holy Angels Convent.)
She is survived by two sons: Willie and (Rose Ann) Sandoval,
George and (Clarinda) Sandoval. Her son John is deceased.
She is also survived by five grandchildren and three great
grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday January 23, 2016 at the Holy Angels Convent with Father Vicent Udo officiating. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Mount Olivet Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers will be the Knights of Columbus.
Visitation and Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. on Friday January 22, 2016 at the Holy Angels Convent.
In lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Holy Angels Convent, P.O. Box 1209 Jonesboro, Arkansas 72403.
