Sister Alberta Krebs, Osb

Sister Alberta Krebs, O.S.B., age 83, died peacefully at Holy Angels Convent, Jonesboro, AR, on Thursday, June 8, 2006, at 10:32 a.m. She was born on a farm outside of Durant, Oklahoma on April 9, 1923. She grew up in Lindsay, Texas and from there entered Holy Angels Convent in 1937.

Sister Alberta made her first profession in 1940 and Final Profession in 1944. She celebrated her Silver Jubilee in 1965, her Golden in 1990, and her 60th in 2000.

Her major area of ministry has been in education. She holds a B.S. in Education from St. Mary College in Xavier, Kansas, with additional training in language therapy. She loved and was very successful working with children with dyslexia. In addition to teaching 50 years in the elementary school, she spent 4 years helping with the cooking at St. John’s Seminary in Little Rock. She also worked 8 years in Pastoral Care in St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro before retiring 3 years ago.

Sister Alberta taught school in Benton, Blytheville, Engelberg, Jonesboro, Little Rock, Paragould, Pocahontas, West Memphis, Muenster, Texas and Rhineland, Texas.

Her favorite hobbies include music, growing flowers, sewing, quilting and fishing.

Survivors include:

1 brother: Raymond Krebs of Coalgate, Oklahoma, and
1 sister: Kathryn Nokusille of Wellston, Oklahoma.

Rosary and visitation will be Friday evening, June 9 at 7:00 at Holy Angels Convent Chapel. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday morning, June 10, at 10:30 in Holy Angels Convent Chapel with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery at Holy Angels Convent.
