Sirvillar "Sue" Pyle

Sirvillar ‘Sue’ Josephine Goodon Pyle passed peacefully on the morning of Tuesday, July 15, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.

Born in 1932 in Jonesboro, AR, Sue assumed responsibility of her household at only eight years old, as her mother fell ill. By 8th grade, Sue quit school to raise her younger brothers, Ernie and Leon. She worked odd jobs to support her family, eventually earning her GED.

Sue began working at the Arkansas Department of Revenue in the mid-1960s, retiring after 35 years of service.

Highly intelligent, deeply motivated, and graciously humble, Sue had a smile that was contagious. Her greatest love was her family. She possessed a quick wit, a good ear for listening, and the wisdom of several lifetimes. Sue treated all she knew equally and amicably. Her family will revere her as an icon and a woman who exemplified kindness, integrity, and civility.

Sue was preceded in death by her mother and father, Josie and Wenfield Goodoon, her brothers, Ernest and Leon Goodon, and her husband, Nolan Pyle.

She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Pyle Glover, her son, David Pyle, her granddaughter, Misty Heusinger, her grandsons, Jonathan and Nathaniel Pyle, and her great-granddaughter, Willa Heusinger.

Funeral arrangements have been made through Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro with a visitation Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. and funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Kathy Holler officiating. Additional arrangements are private.
