Shirley Powell

Shirley Powell, 70, of Jonesboro passed from this life on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. She was born in Cash on September 4, 1943 to the late O.C. and Ruby Johnson. Shirley was a member of the Southwest Church of Christ. She loved her grandchildren, family, gardening, and traveling with her sisters and friends. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents and two sons: Brent Powell of Jonesboro and Shane Powell of Jonesboro.

Shirley is survived by Thomas “Buddy” Powell her loving husband of 51 years. Daughter: Amber Bingham (Phil) of Jonesboro. Daughter in law: Shauna Flanigan Powell of Jonesboro. Sisters: Brenda Hyde and Cathy Calhoun. Grandchildren: Cody Powell, Caitlyn Powell, Lauren Bingham, and Logan Bingham.

Funeral Services will be held at Emerson Memorial Chapel on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. with Dr. Jimmy Adcox officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with active Pallbearers being: Cody Powell, Logan Bingham, Brad Hyde, Bart Hyde, Stan Lewis, and Curtis Merritt. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Ronald Blatchly, Dr. Troy Vines, Jonathan Lansford, James Lansford, Donald Wooten, Randy Hinton, Todd Hinton, David Veara, and Keith Munn.
