Shirley J. Craig Howard, 86, of Bono passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House, surrounded by family.

She was born in Bono and lived there all her life. Shirley retired from Craighead Electric and was a lifelong member of the Bono Church of Christ.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved watching sports—Westside basketball and the Tennessee Titans were her favorites. Shirley also loved to travel and visited all 50 states, Canada, and Puerto Rico.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Thelma Chapman; her grandparents, Samuel and Jennie Browning Craig; and two brothers, Glen Craig and Graylon “Cotton” Chapman.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Floyd “Bubby” Howard of the home; two children, Kara (Danny) Flippo of Conway and Clayton (Cindy) Howard of Jonesboro; five grandchildren, Chad Flippo, Josh Howard, Annika Howard, Len Howard, and Aiden Howard; two great-grandchildren, Evie and Lee; and her siblings, Lila and Robert Long, Wayne and Joyce Chapman, Beth and Teddy Foster, Jamie and Jackie Smith, Bonnie White, Bob and Kim Chapman, and David and Kay Chapman.

A graveside funeral service will be held Friday, January 23, 2026, at Trinity Cemetery in Bono starting at 2:00 p.m. with Gary Cremeens officiating. Pallbearers will include Chad Flippo, Josh Howard, Len Howard, Aiden Howard, Brody Foster, Casey Foster, and Annika Howard.
