Shirley J. Nolte

September 23, 1935 — August 23, 2010

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!”
(II Cor 5:17). Mrs. Shirley J. Nolte “graduated” late in the evening on Monday, August 23rd, 2010. She did and lived a lot in the 74 years she was on this earth, and touched many peoples’ lives with her caring heart and giving spirit. She came into this world in 1935 in Stuttgart, AR, which is where she grew up. After high school she attended the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, and graduated in 1957, after which she taught school in Texas and Hawaii. In 1968 she fell in love with and married F.W. “Bill” Nolte, with whom she spent the rest of her life, and with whom she gave birth to and raised two sons, Joel and Todd. She enjoyed scrapbooking and playing Bunco with her buddies, and she loved spending time with her granddaughter Reese. She set an example for all of us by her faith and ceaseless prayer, and she leaves behind a legacy that shines brightly in the lives of those she touched- both in this community and on other continents. She had a talent for making people feel special, and we are going to miss her so much. We’ll never be able to look at a butterfly without thinking of her and remembering the influence she had on our lives.

Funeral services will be 6:00 P.M., Thursday, August 26, 2010, at Central Baptist Church with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be from 4 – 6 Thursday at the church, prior to the service. Graveside services will be 2:00 Friday, August 27, 2010 at Walnut Hill Cemetery, near Texarkana, Arkansas.
