Shirley Ann Hood

Shirley Ann Hood, 80, of Jonesboro, passed away on August 21, 2024, at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital. Shirley was born in Steele, MO, on January 12, 1944, to the late Delmus Underwood and Mildred Reynolds. In addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Donald Hood, stepson David Hood, and three siblings.

Shirley and her family moved to Jonesboro from Illinois in 1979. She spent her life raising her wonderful family, always there to take care of their needs. Shirley would spend her free time cross-stitching if she wasn't cooking or caring for her family. As she grew older, her focus shifted from her adult children to her beautiful grandkids, whom she cherished. Shirley's love for her family was unwavering, and she always enjoyed spending time with them.

Shirley is survived by her sons, Steve Hood, Bradley Hood, Donald Hood Jr, Eddie Hood, and stepson Roger Hood; her daughter, Angela Hood; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at Linwood Cemetery in Paragould. A visitation will precede the service from 9:00 am to 10:00 am.
