Shirley Hurst Birmingham Hollenback

Shirley Faye Hollenback, 74, of Lafayette Indiana, passed away Saturday, December 26, 2020 at her home.

She was born June 17, 1946 In Tyronza, AR, and raised in the Jonesboro, AR area by the late Jack B. and Bertha M. Hurst.  She graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1964.  After raising her five children she returned to school at Arkansas State University, ultimately completing a Masters of Rehabilitation Counseling.  She worked as a drug and alcohol counselor and later as a mental health therapist.  She was a lovely, friendly southern lady who liked almost every person she met.  She had a big generous heart and loved animals.  She will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved her.

On July 8, 2000 she married Edward Hollenback in West Lafayette, IN and he survives.  Along with her husband she is survived by her children:  Phillip (Lori) Birmingham of McHenry, IL, Lisa (Randy) Wolf of West Lafayette, IN, Kimberly Birmingham of Lafayette, Jennifer Reitz of Lafayette, and Nancy Birmingham of Lafayette; and a step-son Michael Hollenback of Denver, CO.  She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren:  Rachael Wolf of West Lafayette, Jackson and Abrahm Reitz of Lafayette, and Jasper and Max Birmingham of McHenry; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Thursday, June 17, 2021 from 3-5 pm at Emerson Funeral Home.

A memorial service will follow the visitation at 5 pm with Tom Russell officiating. Burial will be private.
