Shirley Holbrook, 81, of Jonesboro passed from this life on April 17, 2017 with her family by her side.
Shirley was born on July 11, 1935 to the late George and Alice Peacock Williamson. Born and raised in Beedeville, she lived most of her life in the Paragould and Jonesboro areas. Graduating from the Arkansas Baptist School of Nursing in 1956, she worked in the nursing field for over 43 year where she served as a Registered Nurse. She was Director of the Jonesboro Practical Nurse School; Director of Nursing at Community Methodist Hospital in Paragould; Assistant Hospital Administrator at Craighead Memorial Hospital and Director of Nurses at the Jonesboro Human Development Center. She was a Master Gardener, genealogist, family historian, sold real estate and worked in her flower garden in her spare time. She was a member of the Valley View Church of Christ, where she taught the Tuesday Morning Ladies Bible classes, headed up the card ministry, and helped preparing dinners for the church. She was a very active whether it be gardening, shopping for good bargains, or just decorating her home. She loved serving others, and the influence she had on her family and friends will be missed but never forgotten.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew Holbrook; sisters, Janice Lacy and Alma Frohlin.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, David L. Holbrook of Jonesboro; son, David S. Holbrook of Jonesboro; daughters, Donna Miller of Jonesboro and Deena Toalson and her husband Patrick of Ennis, MT; grandchildren, Chris Toalson and wife Carly of Bozeman, MT, Lauren Dysert and husband Peter of Chicago, IL, Chris Miller of Kansas City, MO, Erin Toalson of Nashville, TN, and Lindi Miller of Jonesboro; great grandchildren, Xavier and Harlee Holbrook; brothers, George Williamson and wife Alice of Horse Shoe Bend, C.L. Williamson and wife Judy of McCrory, and Roger Williamson of McCrory; several nephews and nieces; and many other family members and friends.
Funeral service will be Saturday at 11:00a.m. at Valley View Church of Christ with Terry Smith officiating. Interment will take place at Eight Mile Cemetery near Beedeville with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements. Honorary pallbearers are the ladies from the Tuesday morning bible study at Valley View Church of Christ.
Visitation will take place from 10:00-11:00a.m. at Valley View Church of Christ.
