Shirley Lloyd Grisham

December 4, 1937 — May 10, 2018

Jonesboro – Shirley Lloyd Grisham, 80, of Jonesboro, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2018, surrounded by her husband, grandson, and numerous other loved ones. She was born December 4, 1937, in Leachville, Arkansas to Thelma and Eddie Lloyd.

Shirley lived in Jonesboro for 16 years and otherwise was a life-long resident of Black Oak, Arkansas. She was primary advisor to the Chief Executive Officer of Grisham Farms for 50 + years. While advising, she also raised 3 children, 5 grandkids, and 2 great-grandkids. She was a member of Black Oak Baptist Church for 50 years and served as Director of Mission Friends for 27 years. She also served in numerous capacities for Vacation Bible School at Black Oak Baptist.

Shirley enjoyed maintaining her home and protecting her family.  Most importantly, she was persistent with her endeavor of bragging on her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She took delight in story-telling, albeit it exaggerated, about her progenies’ success and quality of life. She enjoyed humming or singing songs of Praise while baking and cooking for her loved-ones.  She enjoyed travelling the country with her husband and friends, Southern Baptist gossip, eating at, and critiquing, multiple eateries in the Greater Jonesboro Business District, and was an avid and effective spender. Her sweet, soft voice and delightful, yet under-appreciated sense of humor will be missed. Her loved ones will also miss her blatant and often unsolicited advice, which in time, was always correct.

Shirley was preceded in her death by her mother and father, brother, Eddie Lloyd, and son, Bobby Lloyd Grisham.

Shirley is survived by her stubbornly devoted husband of 63 years, Bob Grisham of the same home, daughter Carrie Grisham of Mountain Home, daughter Connie Tarver of Jonesboro, grandson Bobby Heath Grisham of Monette, grandson and grand daughter in law, Dr. Blake and Elisabeth Grisham of Lubbock, Texas, grandson and grand daughter-in-law Blaine and Magan Tarver of Manila, grandson Bluford Joe Clay Tarver of Jonesboro, granddaughter Alaina (Allie) Grisham of Jonesboro, sister Evelyn Bailey of Byron, Michigan, and Carolyn Moffat of Memphis, Tennessee. Brothers and Sisters-In Loves Jim and Frankie Grisham of Jonesboro and Lynn and Linda Smith of Black Oak, nieces Dr. Tara Smith, Barbara Ann Sanders, and Samantha Sanders, all of Jonesboro.  She is also survived by her two precious, perfect great-granddaughters, Kia Nicole Grisham of Monette and Ava Grace Tarver of Manila.

Visitation services will be Sunday, May 13 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Funeral services, including graveside, will be at 2p.m. Monday, May 14. Services will begin at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro and graveside services will be held immediately after in Monette. Services will be officiated by Gray Falanga and Jerry Parker.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Heath Grisham, Blake Anthony Grisham, Blaine Grisham Tarver, Bluford Joe Clay Tarver, Gary Gibbs, and Justin Gathright. Honorary pallbearers will be members of her Sunday School class at Walnut Street Baptist Church.
