Shirley Dean Bridger

Shirley Dean Bridger, 77, of Jonesboro, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2016, at St. Bernards Medical Center.

Born in Troy, Tennessee, Shirley moved to Jonesboro in 1956. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Jonesboro where she taught Sunday school for many years. Shirley was an artist and enjoyed calligraphy and tole painting. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting and quilting. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents: Rice Pierce Dean and Martha Louise Wicker Dean, and a daughter, Laura Lea Bridger.

Survivors include her husband, Don Bridger of the home;

2 daughters: Dana Hurt (Porter) of Jonesboro and Donna Bridger of Ft. Worth, Texas;

3 sons: Patrick Bridger (April) of Allentown, Pennsylvania, Dean Bridger (Lisa) of Jonesboro, and Danny Bridger of Ft. Worth, Texas;

1 sister, June Dean Cunningham of Port Sanilac, Michigan; and

5 grandchildren: Darrick Bridger (Jennie), Lauren Bridger, Kayte Bridger, John Bridger and Nicole Bridger.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Bruce Venable officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Saturday at Emerson Funeral Home.
