Sherry Ann Ladd

October 10, 1942 — August 2, 2015

Sherry Ann Ladd, 72, of Lake City, died Sunday, August 2, 2015, at the Del Sol Medical Center in El Paso, Texas, from injuries sustained in a pedestrian-vehicle accident.

Born in Peoria, Illinois, Sherry lived most of her life in the Monette-Lake City area. She was a 1960 graduate of Monette High School and was a member of First Baptist Church of Lake City where she was a long-time Sunday school teacher. She along with her husband Jim and son Mark Ladd owned and operated Ladd Farms and J and J Trucking Company of Arkansas.

Sherry was a member of the Mt. Zion Missions Team and served on the following committees: Camp, Mission Home Team, Disaster Relief, Shower facilities, Camp Long-Range Planning, Task Force Member and Associational Board Member for First Baptist-Lake City. Sherry was past Womens Missionary Union Associational Leader and served on the State WMU Finance Committee. She was an appointed advisory member for the USDA Farm Service Agency.

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Mary Elouise Stokes Merritt; and a son, Gary Wayne Spurlock.

Survivors include her husband, Jim Ladd of the home;
2 sons: William Greg Spurlock (Courtney Long Spurlock) of Apopka, Florida, and Mark Ladd of Lake City; and 1 granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Spurlock.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ron Langston and Rev. Greg Rainwater officiating. Burial will follow in Monette Memorial Cemetery.

Active pallbearers include nephews John Ladd, Buddy Ladd, Steve Owens, Aaron Owens, Neal Wimberley and Lee Wimberley. Honorary pallbearers include Jerry Johnston, Denny Johnston, Leland Dowless, Fred Dowless, Brant Dowless, Jeff Spencer, Jim Robertson and Larry Ladd.

Visitation will be held Friday from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
