Sherman Dewayne House, 83, of Jonesboro, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 10, 2025. Sherman was born in Bono on February 10, 1942, to the late Reverend Wayne and Wilma House.
Sherman spent his entire life in the Jonesboro community. He was a charter member of Victory General Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for many years. Sherman used his skills as a maintenance supervisor to help provide for his family. Over the years, he had the opportunity to work for Crane Co., Dupont, and Kemlite. Outside of his work and church commitments, Sherman dedicated many hours to his hobby farm, caring for his garden and raising cows and horses. Most importantly, Sherman loved being with his family, especially spending time with his grandsons and great-grandsons.
Sherman is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 63 years, Evonda House; and his son, Steve House.
Sherman is survived by his son, Dewayne House (Kandi) of Bono; daughter-in-law Patti House of Bono; brothers Sam House (Debby) of Oxford, AR and Ken House of Canton, TX; grandsons Brian House (Ashley) of Brookland, Sherman House III (Nicole) of Jonesboro, and Brad House (Madison) of Brookland; and great-grandsons Logan, Hayes, Landon, and Parker House.
A visitation will be held at Emerson Funeral Home on August 12, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 2:00 pm with Bro. Dale Blackwell officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Brian House, Sherman House III, Brad House, Steve Gray, Brooks Cravens, and Andre Pope. Honorary Pallbearers include the men of Victory General Baptist Church.
