Shelton Patrick "Pat" Halk, born 3/17/48, told his wife, Patricia, the night before he died, that he had accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and was going to heaven. Being an avid hunter,
his
heaven, truly became "the happy hunting ground," on 8/10/20 where he loved and respected the sport in every way.
Not only the sport of hunting, but also the love of quarter horses---giving the word "retirement" a whole new meaning as a trainer, a rider, and a competitor in Western Pleasure.
Many in Jonesboro knew him as the legendary Coach Halk who coached football, and also taught geography and history at Nettleton Public Schools with sometimes a bit of grit on the outside, but always a soft heart on the inside. (Being humble, he fiercely denied the legendary label, naming former coaches such as Lynn Nix, Chester Key, and Wesley Rothe, among others, as true legends.)
Following President Trump's 2016 victory, Pat Halk became a passionate patriot like none other---daring you to protest his allegiance to flag, country, and the Constitution! Always wearing Trump T-shirts and hats, political stickers on his truck, campaign banners in his front yard, making generous donations to worthy candidates, often buying food for law enforcement workers and military personnel---there was
no limit
to his patriotism.
If asked what one could do in Pat Halk's memory, he would probably say, "VOTE FOR TRUMP 2020!!!"
