Shelby Jean Cooper, 80, of Jonesboro, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born to Charles and Edith Wiseman on March 10, 1942, in Stuart’s Draft, VA She married Cleo Cooper in 1989, and they resided in Albany, Ill. before relocating to Jonesboro to raise a family.
Shelby is survived by three children: Gina Davenport, of Greensboro, N.C.; Brandi Davenport, of Jonesboro; and Ernest Cooper, of Jonesboro. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Shelby was predeceased by her loving husband, Cleo, in 1998.
Shelby was a devout Christian and active member of Central Baptist Church in Jonesboro. Shelby was known for her home cooked meals, having catered many weddings and events over the years. Still, she was most proud of the family she raised alongside nearly 50 children through her at-home daycare service, which she operated for 15 years. Shelby was honest, always with a kind word to spare and a playful smile to accompany it. She will be dearly missed by her loving children and grandchildren.
A private graveside memorial service will be held on Friday, August 26, 2022, at Oaklawn Cemetery where she will be laid to peaceful rest.
