Shawn Gott, 43, of Jonesboro died Tuesday at Methodist University hospital in Memphis after a long battle with cancer.
Shawn was born on March 7, 1970 to the late Ted Gott and Linda Moss in Jonesboro. He lived all his life in the Jonesboro area, and was a member of the Bono Church of Christ. He was a loving husband and father that loved and lived his life for the Lord. He had several hobbies that he enjoyed and they were studying his Bible, listening to acapella music, passion and understanding for politics, and fly fishing. He served as chairperson on the local board for the Right for Life from 2001-2008, and chairperson on the state board for the Right for Life from 2002-2008. His loving personality and love for life will be missed but never forgotten.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by paternal grandmother, Ann Gott; maternal grandparents, CY and Audrey Bailey.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy; one son, Nate Gott both of the home; one brother, Mark (Bonnie) Underwood of Jonesboro; one sister, Angela (Adam) Blanks of Jackson, Mississippi; grandfather, Carroll Gott of Jonesboro; step mother, Carol Gott of Maumelle; one uncle, Tim Gott of North Little Rock; one aunt, Carola Clayton of Hazen; a special little K9 friend, Buster; and a host of other family and friends.
Visitation will be Friday evening from 5-8 at Emerson Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be Saturday afternoon at 2pm in the Emerson Memorial Chapel with Richard Akins and Joseph Noto officiating.
Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be Byron Holt, Joy Sartin, Rhonda Jones, Darrell Smith, Kenny Beshiers, and Jerry Denton. Honorary Pallbearers will Dr. Mazen Khalil, Dr. John Lynch, Angie Brady, and Dr. William Hurst.
