Sharon Whitman, 68, of Jonesboro, formerly of South Suburban Chicago, passed from this life Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center surrounded by her family. She was born to the late Kenneth and Evelyn Whitman on July 13, 1953 in Nashville, Tennessee.
Sharon has resided in Jonesboro for the last couple of years after spending the majority of her life in the South Suburbs of Chicago. She was a member of Full Gospel Christian Assemblies International Church and was involved in the prayer ministry. Sharon was a very fun, loving, caring person who enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a great cook, had great sense of humor, and devout Christian who took God very seriously. She would pray for anyone at any time. She was a true intercessor. Sharon was a retired Pre-K Paraprofessional and had over 23 years of service and loved the children she taught.
In addition to her parents, Sharon is preceded in death by her sister, Sheila Husband.
Sharon is survived by her daughter, Chandra Wheatley of Jonesboro; son, Jerlon Rucker of Baton Rouge, LA; brothers, Michael (Debbie) Hendricks of Nashville; Steve Tripp of Newport; sisters, Wynona (Ray) Coleman of Jonesboro and LaTanya Thomas of Robbins, IL; granddaughter, Brianne Rucker; nieces, Kendra Sharp and Mordeena Glover; nephew, Derrick (Chelsae) Coleman; great niece's, Kaylah Sharp and Ava Coleman; great nephews, Mekhi Sharp and Skylor Coleman; and aunts that include, Lucille Payne and Linda (William) Abernathy both of Nashville, TN.
Special Acknowledgement to Ray Coleman, more than a brother in law. Always being there for his sister Sharon. Catering to whatever requests she may have had. Treating her as if they were blood. They had a special bond that couldn't be broken. She loved her brother and he loved his sister!
