Sharon Kay Travis, 67, of Jonesboro, passed from this life on January 10, 2022 at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital. Sharon was born in Batesville, AR on March 11, 1954 to the late Edith and Billy Sharp. In addition to her parents, Sharon is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Travis.
Sharon lived in Jonesboro for 43 years and was a member of Hillcrest Church of Christ where she taught Sunday school to the pre-school age children. She was an avid reader and enjoyed watching football and MMA. She also loved being with her animals. Sharon took pride in her work as a social worker. Being well known in her field, she was one of the longest license holders for social work in Arkansas. Sharon was selfless and giving. She spent her life trying to make other people’s lives better. Most importantly, Sharon loved her family. Especially her son Will, and all of her grandchildren.
Sharon is survived by her son, Will Travis (Christi) of Paragould; step-daughters, Melissa McCluskey of Warrior, AL, Terrie Rolland (Chris) of Monette, Tonya Guthrie (Lanny) of Warrior, AL, and Jennifer Fraser (Chris) of Morris, AL; grandchildren Whitaker, Lillian, Andy, Micheal, Charlie, Ellena, Tiffany, Morgan, Mackenzie, Madison, and Audie; and several great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Emerson Funeral Home. A visitation will precede the service from 1:00pm to 2:00pm. Burial will be private.
