Sgt. William H Gossett

Sgt. William H. Gossett, 59, of Jonesboro, died Friday, February 13, 2009, at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. He had lived his life in the Jonesboro area and was a member of the Cornerstone United Methodist Church, a life member of the VFW and the DAV. William served his country during the Vietnam War and was the former Service Officer and Chaplain for VFW Post 1991.

William was preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother and one sister.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Brenda Gossett, of the home; one son, William E. Gossett, Memphis, Tennessee; two daughters, Heather M. Nix and husband Jud, Jonesboro; and Jamie Baker of the home; two brothers, Dewayne Gossett and Tony Gossett, both of Jonesboro; one sister Rose Ann Taylor, Jonesboro; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, February 16, 2009 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Reverend Tommy Toombs officiating and burial to follow at Macey Cemetery near Monette, Arkansas. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements and the pallbearers are Bud Sutton, Harold Barber, Heath Harris, Patrick Gardner, Curt Bryant, and Jerry Taylor. Visitation will be Sunday, from 2-4 at Emersons.
