Sgt. Edward D. Dobbs 72, of Jonesboro died Sunday November 10, 2013 at his residence. Edward was born in Alicia, Arkansas on December 11, 1940 to the late Ernest and Vida Quarry Dobbs. He had lived in Jonesboro most of his life and was a tool and die maker for Colson from 1965 to 1978. Later he worked at the Mid South Manufacturing Company in Marked Tree from 1984 to 1999 until he retired. He was an Army Veteran serving in Korea and Germany. He later served 20 years in the Arkansas National Guard.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Louise Dobbs.
Survived by his son: Ernie Rucker of Jonesboro.
Daughters: Rebecca Nichols and husband Billy and Earnestine Lee all of Jonesboro.
Brothers: Darrell Dobbs of Walnut Ridge, Arkansas and Ricky Dobbs of Rockford, Illinois.
Sisters: Pauline Henke of Edmond, Oklahoma, Faye Copeland of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Francis Herring of Portia, Arkansas. Linda Krepps and Bonnie Woody both of Batesville, Barbara Tennison of Rockford, Illinois, Shirley Gipson of Love Park, Illinois and Phyllis Francis of Rockford, Illinois.
9 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 6 great- great grandchildren.
Numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday November 16, 2013 at Pine Hill Cemetery with Don House officiating. Emerson Funeral Home in charge.
Visitation will be from 5-7:00 P.M. Friday November 15, 2013 at Emerson Funeral Home.
