Savoil Lester King Sr.

Savoil Lester King Sr., 77, of Jonesboro passed from this life on Monday, April 17, 2017. He was born on May 11, 1939 to the late Hugh Flucas and Theretha Perry in Gainsville, Florida. He was second cousin to Dr. Martin Luther King and shared his love for the Lord and commitment to equality and civil rights for all. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of First Baptist Church on Kitchen Street. Savoil earned his Doctorate in Theological Studies and another Doctorate in Ministry. He loved to cook and enjoyed it most when sharing his creations with others. He was a loving husband and devoted father who will be missed. In addition to his parents, Savoil is preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

Savoil is survived by his wife of 40 years, Dr. Dorothy King; sons, Savoil King Jr., Tony King, Andy King, Darren King, and Ranando King; daughters, Madeline King, Andrea King, Angelette King, and Jasmine King; sisters, Whilamena Blake, Mary Cash, Belinda Flucas, and Mary Issac. Savoil also leaves behind a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at First Baptist Church on Kitchen Street with Rev. Curtis Wilson officiating. Burial will be private.

The visitation will be prior to the service starting at 11:00 am.
