Sarah Parnell, 93, of Jonesboro, died Monday, April 16, 2012 at Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House. Born in Brookland, she had lived for a time in Detroit but had lived here for the past 33 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jonesboro. She was known as one of the “Pink Ladies” and always was willing to help someone. She was a funny, independent, upbeat, and forgiving person. She was a good Christian and was the “go to” person in the family. Left behind to cherish her memory are her 3 nieces, Janis Tucker, Little Rock, Jenny Munn, Germantown, and Merrilyn Lindsey, Memphis.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Herb Wendell and Herman Parnell; parents, Ab & Kate Axton Jones; brothers, Hugh Jones, Bob Jones; sister Ann Ivey; and a niece, Marsha Ivey.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Pine Log Cemetery at 10:00 am with Dr. Bruce Tippit officiating. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
There will be no visitation.
The family would like to give special thanks to her wonderful caregivers, Paula McArthur, Nona Bivens, Bruce Tippit and the members of First Baptist Church for their calls, concerns, and visits, and also to the staff at Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House where she received excellent care.
