Sarah Johnston

Sarah Johnston, 84, of Jonesboro, passed away on May 3, 2022.  She was born September 22, 1937, to Oscar and Allie Huffman of the Bono Community.  Sarah was a member of First Baptist Church in Jonesboro. She received her BSE and MSE from Arkansas State University.  After completing her student teaching at Jonesboro Public School, she joined the facility where she taught for twenty-eight years.  She was a life-time member of the Arkansas Teachers Retirement System. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Birmingham and two brothers, Max (Toby) Huffman and Larry Huffman; one great nephew, Joshua Birmingham and special family member Amy Huffman Boyce.

Sarah is survived by her husband James E. (Eddie) Johnston of the home; special family member, Alex Huffman of Jonesboro; niece, Lisa Birmingham and nephews, Darrell Birmingham (Tammy) and David Birmingham all of Paragould; two great nephews, Zachary Birmingham (Jennifer) of Paragould; Lawson Boyce of Little Rock; two great great nieces, Kinley and Pressly Birmingham.
