Sarah Faye Roedel

Sarah Faye Roedel, 79, of Brookland, passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2017, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.

Born in Baldwyn, Mississippi, Sarah moved to Craighead County about 1943 and lived the majority of her life here. Sarah was a graduate of Bay High School and attended Arkansas State University. She worked for a short period of time for Salanat & Salant in Trumann but the majority of her working life was spent along side her husband as they farmed many years in Eastern Craighead County. Sarah was a dedicated farming wife, driving equipment and working in all facets of the farm. She cooked lunch every day and delivered it to the field where the workers gathered and all ate together.

Sarah was a charter member of Needham Baptist Church and through the years served as church treasurer, pianist and Sunday school teacher. She was also active in Womens Missionary Union and served as Cub Scout Den Mother. Sarah enjoyed sewing, gardening, yard work and fishing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benny Roedel; son, Benny Von Roedel; parents: R.L. and Iva Lee Barrett Nichols; and 2 brothers: Max and Jimmy Nichols.

Survivors include 1 daughter and son-in-law: Rhonda Kaye and Danny Russell of Brookland;
1 son, Tracey Paul Roedel of Brookland;
3 sisters and brothers-in-law: Donna and Jeff McClung of Mountain View, Debbie and Jr. Taylor of Jonesboro and Tonya and Joe Monroe of Bay;
3 brothers and sisters-in-law: Jerry Nichols of Jonesboro, Landa and Glenda Nichols of Trumann and Ronnie and Linda Nichols of Brookland;
6 grandchildren and their spouses: Sarah Nicole and Thomas Crutchfield, Candace Grace and Shannon Timms, Hannah Marie Roedel, Ryan Heath and Jenni Russell, Daniel Jerrad and Paige Russell and Jillian Kate Russell; and
11 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Needham Baptist Church, 1465 CR 945, Jonesboro, with Rev. Danny Russell officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Log Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 1:00 -2:00 in the church.

Active pallbearers include Ryan Russell, Daniel Russell, Tracey Roedel, Shannon Timms, Brian Roedel and Zach Nichols. Honorary pallbearers will be Sarah's nephews.
